THE BEARD THAT BUILT AN EMPIRE
IT ALL STARTED WITH A TRADITION AND A STAND. Bill Litgen grew a beard during each of his wife’s pregnancies – it was his way. When his boss demanded he shave or lose his job, Bill chose freedom. George Litgen quit his sales position the next week. That evening, two men decided to lay it all on the line. A month later, Brent joined as the third partner. March 14, 1979: THE CONCRETE BARBERS WERE BORN.
GARAGE TO GREATNESS
BOTH FOUNDERS PUT THEMSELVES THROUGH SCHOOL CUTTING CONCRETE. Bill studied civil engineering, George mastered finance. The first “Barbershop” was a small garage and Bill’s basement. George drove the first truck – his only transportation. Six jobs a day, morning and night. NO EXCUSES. NO SHORTCUTS. PURE GRIT.
LEGENDARY CONCRETE WARRIORS
AS BUSINESS EXPLODED, LEGENDS JOINED THE CREW. Mike O’Hara and Donny Ostby became concrete cutting machines. Donny worked the field for 40 YEARS until retiring January 25, 2019. Tom Gattas led Chicago sales, then managed Wisconsin for 35 years. These weren’t just employees – THEY WERE CONCRETE BARBERS.
